Linkding Mobile Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

This policy describes how Linkding Mobile handles information. It does not cover the practices of your Linkding instance, its hosting provider, or websites you visit.

Information the app handles

  • Your Linkding instance URL and API token, which are needed to connect your account.
  • Your app preferences, such as theme, browser choice, deletion confirmation, and the library tab shown at startup.
  • Bookmarks, tags, notes, and metadata retrieved from or sent to your Linkding instance while you use the app.
  • A URL you share with the app, so it can check for an existing bookmark and request suggested metadata from your Linkding instance.

How information is used

Linkding Mobile communicates directly with the Linkding instance you configure, using HTTPS. Your API token is sent to that instance in the authentication header for API requests.

When you share a link, its URL is sent to your Linkding instance to check for duplicates and request metadata. This happens before you confirm whether to save the bookmark. The bookmark is saved to the instance only if you choose to create it.

Test instance

The app may offer a shortcut to connect to a designated test Linkding instance using test credentials. If you use it, requests and any bookmarks you create are sent to that test instance. Do not save sensitive information there.

Storage and retention

The instance URL, API token, and app preferences are stored in the secure storage provided by iOS or Android. Bookmarks are held in memory while you use the app. Linkding Mobile does not maintain an offline bookmark database.

Disconnecting removes the instance URL and API token from your device. Your app preferences remain on the device, and disconnecting does not delete bookmarks stored on the Linkding server. You can delete those bookmarks in the app or through your Linkding instance.

Third-party services

Linkding Mobile does not include advertising, audience analytics, or tracking services. If you open a bookmark, the browser selected in your settings visits the destination website. That browser and website may handle information according to their own privacy policies.

Your Linkding instance and its hosting provider may process API requests and connection details, such as server logs or your IP address, according to their own configuration and policies.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the app changes. The last updated date at the top indicates the version currently displayed.
