1. Who we are
RideDex is a roller coaster tracking app that helps users log coaster rides, park visits, favorites, wishlist items and future park trips.

2. Data we collect
Account data
Name, username, email address, password authentication data and profile details.
Profile and app data
Bio, country, home park, favorite park, favorite coaster, avatar and cover image.
Ride and park activity
Ride logs, ride dates, ride counts, notes, park visit history and related stats.
Planning data
Wishlist items, favorites, planned park visits, trip notes and potential credits.
3. Location data
If you grant location permission, RideDex may use your device location to estimate wishlist distances and nearby park context. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.
RideDex should only request location when it is useful for an app feature. Exact retention behavior should be updated here if location is stored server-side in the future.
4. How we use your data
- To create and authenticate your account.
- To sync your profile, ride history, park visits, favorites and wishlist.
- To build statistics such as credits, parks visited, countries and rides per year.
- To display planned trips and upcoming calendar visits.
- To improve app reliability, fix bugs and understand feature usage.
- To protect the app from abuse, fraud or unauthorized access.
5. Legal basis
Depending on your location, privacy law may require a legal basis for processing. RideDex expects to rely mainly on:
- Contract: to provide the account and core tracking features.
- Consent: for optional permissions such as device location.
- Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain and improve the app.
- Legal obligation: if we must retain or disclose data required by law.
6. Sharing and processors
RideDex may use service providers to host data, authenticate users, deliver app features, store files and monitor app reliability. These providers should only process data as needed to provide their services.
Current backend: PocketBase / [Add hosting provider]. Update this section with every production processor before launch.
7. Visibility and public features
Some profile elements are designed to become shareable or public as social features expand. Privacy controls in settings may initially be mock options until full visibility rules are implemented.
Do not add sensitive personal information to your public profile, bio, ride notes or trip notes.
8. Retention
RideDex keeps account and activity data while your account is active or while needed to provide the app. If export and account deletion tools are not yet available, you can request deletion using the contact details above.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete or restrict the use of your personal data. You may also be able to object to certain processing or withdraw consent for optional permissions.
In the app, you can edit profile information, remove favorites, delete calendar trips and edit or delete history entries. Export and account deletion tools are planned for a later pass.
10. Security
RideDex uses reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your account and app data. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so keep your password private and report suspicious activity.
11. Children
RideDex is not intended for children below the minimum age required by applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate permission, contact us so we can review and remove it if needed.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as RideDex evolves. When changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users in the app or by another appropriate method.
